Thank you for visiting our website!
Fishercreek is owned and operated by Canadian Flat-Coated Retriever Breeders Barry and Pauline Harrison. Fishercreek specializes in home-raised Flat-Coated Retrievers. We have been breeding purebred dogs for Temperament, Show, Obedience and Field for the past 40 years. Two decades ago, we fell hopelessly love with Flat-Coated Retrievers. Since then, we have been dedicated to this breed in every way.
We are proud to have a large, extended Fishercreek Family. On most weekends, you will find us at different events across Canada and the U.S. competing with our Fishercreek dogs. Here are our valued members and friends:
Jill and Theresa Kuchinos
Jill and Theresa Kuchinos were already experienced flat-coat owners when they met Barry at a show in Burlington, Ontario 11 years ago. While Barry was competing in Obedience with Roman, Jill was taken aback by Roman’s beauty and natural movement. It wasn’t long until they ordered a dog from Barry. When Roman sired a Fishercreek litter in Maine, Barry went down and picked a male for Jill and Theresa. They named their new pup King. King has had all-round success in conformation and performance venues with a regular All-Breed Best In Show in Springfield, MA in 2016 defeating over 1,000 dogs. King has also won multiple Best in Shows on btoh the UKC and AKC Owner-Handled circuits.
In 2015, Jill and Theresa added Nina to their pack. Nina is a promising girl who finished her AKC Championship at the age of one, won a Best Puppy In Show, finished her Grand Championship before the age of two, and shows great promise in the field. Both Jill and Theresa work side-by-side with us in every way.
Christine is currently working with her special Fishercreek puppy Valen, while continuing to have fun in Obedience and Conformation with her current Flat-Coat Gretl. Christine has been a great asset to Pauline and Barry as well as the Fishercreek family assisting the other family members with entries, points tracking, grooming as well as other show activities and generally helps keep us all organized. Christine is an important part of Fishercreeks’ future and we look forward to our next Flat-Coat adventures together.
Jim and Diane McNaughton
After serving with the Canadian Air Force, Jim and Diane retired in London and welcomed their first Flattie ‘Daisy’ (Am. Ch. Fishercreeks Dragons Breath) into their family. Active in obedience and field training, Daisy and their second Flattie ‘Lily’ (Fishercreeks Merrie Melodies) have been enjoying learning about conformation while attending shows in Canada and the USA.
In 2016, Daisy was campaigning in the USA and has won multiple Best in Breed and Group placements. She finished the year as the Number 3 Flat-Coat bitch in the USA and took an Award of Excellence at the AKC National Championships! This follows her winning both Winners Bitch and an Award of Merit at the US National Flat-Coat Specilaty in 2015.
Ellen Shaule is a registered nurse who has been obedience training her dogs for the past 7 years. Prior to this she was involved with horses for over 10 years. Ellen lives on the shores of Lake Huron so her dogs spend lots of time swimming and retrieving. In addition to her Fishercreek Flat-Coat Shady, Ellen also has a wonderful Border Collie, Tess, who she also enjoys training. Shady has already completed her Canadian CDX in Obedience and is working towards her OTCH.
Dan and Robin Suh
Dan (a doctor in Toronto) along with his wife Robin and son Ben are all members of the Fishercreek family. They have owned 3 Fishercreek dogs and are currently enjoying their boy George (Fishercreeks All You Need is Love). They are planning to show George as he matures and are looking forward to heading to futures shows and Specialties with the rest of the Fishercreek family.
James and Heather Gregor
The Gregor’s family of 5 was introduced to the Flat-coat breed up in Cottage country 4 Years ago after the loss of their 13 year-old Golden Retriever. They were delighted to learn that there was a breeder in London which of course prompted a call to Pauline who was most gracious in agreeing to have them visit their home to learn more about the breed. Barry and Pauline assured them a Flattie would integrate well with their other dog, a Bernese Mountain dog. Both of the Gregors work in Health care, and at the time decided they could open their hearts to a new puppy, all of their children were living at home and attending different schools and universities. All five of them were able to visit Barry and Pauline as Ruby ripened with her litter and continued to visit once the puppies were born, which was an awesome experience for all. Needless to say, on those many visits, Magic (Leo’s father) stole their hearts along with Roman, and all the other girls. Fast forward three years, and they now have a full-grown Flattie in the house, which at times feels like another teenager! Leo has given them much joy over the last three years, but just as importantly, they have been welcomed into the Flatcoat community through training and preparation for trials, and made treasured friendships along the way.
Steve has been with Fishercreek for over 10 years and is our longest serving family member. He has been a tremendous asset to the team and looks after most of our technical things, including designing our web page, Flat-Coat Directory entries, advertising and many other important activities. Steve has had 4 Fishercreek dogs and is currently working in Conformation, Field and Obedience with Calibre (Fishercreeks Granny Git R Gun CGN).
We are not a kennel. All of our puppies are born and raised in our home and handled from birth. Please scroll through our website and enjoy the pictures of our beautiful dogs that we are proud of! All inquiries are always welcome and all questions will be answered.
